Meet Our Team

THANK YOU for being a part of the BAH family!

Over the last 20 years, we have genuinely enjoyed serving our community by providing quality, compassionate pet care and feel blessed to have developed many great friendships with our amazing clients at the same time!

Everyday we look forward to seeing our patients and catching up with you, whether it’s about your families, personal interests, or community events and news. Practicing veterinary medicine continues to be rewarding because not only are we allowed to care for your furry or feathery family members, but we are able to connect over our shared human-animal bond experience. Thank you for trusting us to provide exceptional, compassionate healthcare for your cherished pets!

Meet Dr. Julie Saarm-Greimel and Dr. Matthew Greimel

Dr. Julie was raised in Thompsonville, Michigan, which is located just south of Traverse City. Throughout her childhood, she helped take care of the livestock, dogs, and cats on her parents’ farm, participated in 4-H, and naturally gravitated toward all animals, especially if they were sick or injured. In 1993, Dr. Julie earned a bachelor’s degree in zoology from Michigan State University. During college, she gained additional animal care and handling experience by working at Potter Park Zoo, MSU Lab Animal Resources Department, and MSU Dairy Farm.

Dr. Matthew was raised just north of Detroit in Shelby Township, Michigan. He enjoyed all types of sports during childhood but settled on competitive diving in high school and college. Although Dr. Matthew grew up with dogs and cats, his true veterinary inspiration came when, as a young boy, he visited his aunt and uncle’s farm in Walloon Lake near Petoskey, Michigan. While attending Michigan State University, he earned a bachelor’s degree in veterinary science and volunteered at veterinary hospitals to gain animal experience.

Drs. Julie and Matthew met in 1993 while attending Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. They married in 1996 and practiced small animal medicine in Grand Rapids, Michigan before deciding to live and practice medicine in northern Michigan. They are the proud parents of two teenagers, Hailey and Raymond. As a family, they enjoy experiencing northern Michigan whether hiking, biking, boating, skiing, or sitting on the beach and relaxing. Over the years, the Greimel family has had the privilege of loving and caring for two easygoing gerbils, one independent but affectionate feline, and three beautiful, water-loving Golden Retrievers. Currently, they share a home with Annie, a cute, sassy (in a good way) Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and two lazy, rescue feline littermates, Meatloaf and Shimmer.
