Dr. Julie Saarm-Greimel
After earning her degree in Zoology from Michigan State University, followed by her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997, Dr. Julie worked as both a relief and associate veterinarian before opening Bayshore Animal Hospital with her husband, Dr. Matthew Greimel, in 2000. Known for being a careful listener and detail-oriented problem solver, she enjoys building lasting relationships with clients while helping them make informed decisions about their pets' care.
Outside the hospital, Dr. Julie enjoys boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, and exploring northern Michigan on e-bikes with Dr. Matthew. They have two adult children and share their home with Annie, their Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and two rescue cats, Meatloaf and Shimmer.Dr. Matthew Greimel
Originally from Shelby Township, Michigan, Dr. Matthew graduated from the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. After a brief time practicing in Grand Rapids, he and Dr. Julie followed their dream of moving north and creating a practice centered on compassionate, personalized veterinary care.
Dr. Matthew values working alongside the talented Bayshore Animal Hospital team and appreciates that every day brings the opportunity to strengthen the bond between pets and the people who love them. He is grateful for the trust clients place in the hospital and considers it a privilege to care for their animals throughout every stage of life.
When he's away from the clinic, Dr. Matthew enjoys spending time outdoors, exploring northern Michigan, and making memories with family and friends.
