Veterinarian & Co-Founder
For Dr. Julie Saarm-Greimel, veterinary medicine is about more than diagnosing illness or performing surgery—it’s about partnering with pet owners to help their companions live healthy, happy lives. She especially enjoys wellness and preventive care, senior pet care, and internal medicine, and loves helping families understand how their pets’ needs evolve through every stage of life.
After earning her degree in Zoology from Michigan State University, followed by her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997, Dr. Julie worked as both a relief and associate veterinarian before opening Bayshore Animal Hospital with her husband, Dr. Matthew Greimel, in 2000. Known for being a careful listener and detail-oriented problem solver, she enjoys building lasting relationships with clients while helping them make informed decisions about their pets’ care.
Outside the hospital, Dr. Julie enjoys boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, and exploring northern Michigan on e-bikes with Dr. Matthew. They have two adult children and share their home with Annie, their Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and two rescue cats, Meatloaf and Shimmer.
